FS: '88 CBR250R - good mechanical cond, 11mths rego, lots of TLC (NSW).
Righteo guys, I'm in NSW and I'm putting up my CBR250R for sale as I've recently bought a larger bike more suited to my needs. I'd dearly love to keep the little rocket for around town and the odd twisties run, but I can't really afford to. So here goes...

Its an '88 CBR250R with ~26,000km and is in very good mechanical condition but isn't great cosmetically. The fairings have a few scratches marring their otherwise good condition, and I'm currently running it without side fairings as I'm polishing those back before refitting. The seat isn't ripped and the padding still does its job. The grips are new and so are ALL control levers. There are some scratches on both engine sidecovers from prev. owners, as well as a few minor dings in the tank. They aren't large indents, just small dings that you don't notice at a distance.

During the time I've had it I've given the little bike a new battery, flushed the engine cases and topped back up with Valvoline semi-synthetic 15W-40 (plus new oil filter, of which I have 2 spares) and installed a new 'HiFlow' paper-element air filter. The tyres have also been treated to stainless valvecaps and 'Tyre Slime' puncture sealant. Tyres are an Arrowmax front and Dunlop Sportmaxx GPR-10 rear. Chain has plenty of adjustment left.

The exhaust is stock, but all headers are in good condition with no rust showing through their factory black paint. There are also no dings or scratches and the exhaust note sounds great. All electrical gizmos work, including the Japanese-mandated 'Speed Alert' which lights up a red shift-style light when you go over 90km/h. Discs both front and rear have new pads and have been bled with DOT-5 Nulon fluid, giving them good stopping power. I've also fitted a new ignition lock (old one cactus) and have a matching-keyed underseat lock as well.

So, Pros:

New oil
New filters
New battery
New levers all-round
New grips
New brake fluid/pads
New ignition & seat locks
Stainless valve caps
Tyre Slime puncture sealant
Rides smoothly, goes like a bat outta hell
Has rego till mid next year

And Cons:

Not cosmetically perfect,
Scratches on otherwise decent fairings,
Scratches on engine covers,
Minor dings on tank.

Here are some pictures:

I'm asking $1750. Remember that includes some spares (old front brake and clutch levers, oil filters, new NGK plugs) and the bike has almost a years rego. Any questions please feel free to ask.

Cheers guys - boingk

You reckon? In the grand scheme of things these aren't worth a hellava lot, and the market that wants them doesn't particularly want to pay a hell of a lot. I got this one for almost nothing (although had to do a lot of work to it) so I guess its just passing on a good deal. Call it karma or something.

If you want it for $1750 its yours.

Haha, thanks man. And, yeah, I know I could probably put $2500 on it and wait until somone slaps down the money, but I wouldn't feel right. Sad to sell...the MC19's rule!

i am by no means an expert to bikes, but i'm sure you could fetch a higher price than that.
