Threaded Mode | Linear Mode

Had a bit of spare time recently and created an API for the forum. It's basic for the moment, but will possibly develop more features if there is any usage of it.

For those of you don't know what an API is, none of this is probably worth reading, for those of you who do... I look forward to possibly seeing an iPhone/Android app for the forum or other interesting applications.

Current API v1.0 supports:

JSON response format
List of forums
List of Announcements/Important Threads/Threads
List of Posts within Thread
Pagination for all of the above
Individual post information
Individual Announcement information

Not supported:

XML response format
Alternative sorting (fixed newest-first sorting)
Posting messages
No user profile lookup
...anything else not listed above

Please give some feedback if you have any interest in using this or any ideas for a suitable application, otherwise please move on... Wink

Great stuff, i've been waiting for google to send me their android app inventor, and I don't have an imac so I can't do itunes apps.

Anyone else know how to get around googles waiting process?

Interesting you should mention android / iphone apps, I have seen forum apps for the iphone and they look really awesome. saves you from loading the entire page and it just parses the forum information and displays it in the app. Very very slick, good for mobile viewing. I think there's even an app for blackberry users as well.

I cant remember if that was the one that I saw earlier but it's a simple plugin for the forum then you just get this app on your mobile device and then away you go...

I like the one that works with android, nokia, iphone and blackberry though, that would be very cool for those browsing the forum on the fly.

The Android App inventor? Just download the SDK and Eclipse and get cracking with code? Wink

I get rather nervous when ever the word "JUST" is used in the context for any design and/or engineering type of work.
It's often a word used by management, or associated with sarcasm by the person responsible for the implementation.
