Can anyone tell me approx what it costs to rego a 400 in NSW these days, thats PINK + GREEN + RTA =

The cost of green slip depends on your age and the suburb the bike is parked at night. Rego cost is percentage of the "official" sale price or market value. Pink slip cost is a fixed price, determined by the RTA in NSW (cant remember, but about $25 for bikes).

Some dodgy mechanics dont like to inspect bikes, so they make your life easier, but they charge a few dollars more. But you shouldnt have to pay more then the list price (check at the walls of the mechanic workshop, they MUST display it there by law).

To find a good price for your green slip, the NSW state has put together a website that will research several insurance companies and make a comparison chart for you. Just enter your details and the questionaire. Last time I used it (january) the difference between QBE and NRMA was about $400 for the greenslip...

Green slips for bikes under 300cc use to cost a lot less than bigger bikes. Now it is almost the same...

I strongly recommend you to take 3rd party insurance, to cover any damage you might cause in case of accident. It is just a few hundred dollars, but you wont have to pay thousands if you scratch or dent someone's expensive car.

My rego was around $250
My Pink slip was $30
My Green slip was $660 Sad

For a 23 y/o on a RVF 400

no it's not. stamp duty is 3% of what you paid for the bike or market value (whichever is higher) up to $45,000, then it';s 5% after that.

Registration fee is made up of a few government levies and it changes depending on the capacity of the engine (for bikes) or the tare weight (for cars). and yes currently in NSW it's around $250 total. the actual rego cost is only $110, but then you add number plate fee, and a few other charges.

green slip varies greatly depending on where you live, your age etc. and whether or not you have comprehensive insurance.

pink slip is around $30.

My Green is $380 with NRMA.
Rego is $110 (+$50 for my plate).
Doesn't nee a pink yet, but they're standard for any bike, around $20-30 IIRC.
