drz 400 re-build & perdying
Well, today i got bored waiting for the parts for my drz400 to arive, so i figured id actually do something with it (1st time in about 6 months.)

anyway, i started with this; a drz minus motor & box
[Image: P150511_1557.jpg?t=1305449525]
and another
[Image: P150511_1601.jpg?t=1305450088]

then get rid of all of this shit (witing, who needs it Tongue)

then upper tripple clamp

then forks and subframe

then finally the swing arm
[Image: P150511_1726.jpg?t=1305449499]

And we are left with the bare frame. Only had one problem, rounding a rear MC bolt... allen key bolts are good untill they get stuck, then they are a PITA!!!

Anyway, im planning on painting the frame after i clean it up, and maybe the swingarm aswell. Havnt decided on that yet though.

So, the plan is at the moment, is to paint ^ those bits, paint the fork bodies, get a few perdy bits -rad hoses, grips, hand gaurds etc- then, when the bits arrive, chuck the motor & box back together -with a FCR carb for the moment- and finally be able to ride again!
there were plans to go bigbore/stroker, but that might still happen, just not this time 'round

What colour are you planing on painting the frame? Have always thought a bright red frame with black swing arm would look awesome on a black DRZ.

Are you planning on making this an interesting build or just restoring it to original?

Also... If you need links to any websites to buy your perdy bits lemme know. I should be able to find them all on my reciepts.

Haha, red is the plan Tongue. Probably doing the swingarm red as well, with a big black suzuki across it.
ill do the carb, otherwise it'll be mostly cosmetic stuff this time, maybe chop the plastics a bit... Dunno.

RE: drz 400 re-build & perdying
Braided Goodridge lines : http://www.racebikebitz.com £88 shipped (only place I found blue front AND rear)
Radiator and Carby hoses : http://www.advancedperformanceaccessories.com US$122 (including new hose clamps for silicon hoses)
LED Flasher : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LED-Blinkrela..._919wt_916
Acerbis Fender, JD jet kit, KN filter Extended fuel screw: thumpertalk shop
Everything else : http://www.wheelingcyclesupply.com (Edge brake light, Zeta bark busters and other various blingery).

When I start working, I'll be getting everything else (+4mm big bore, +4mm stroke kit, RHC cams, springs and valves and FCR41) through Eddie off Thumpertalk and will just get him to ship it all over in 1 very heavy box for me.

BTW. 12,000 POSTS!!!

When you shop at wheeling, send Forrest (the owner) an email to ask if that's the best price he'll do for you.

He didn't discount the parts, but he did discount the shipping a fuckload! Think for the $400 worth of gear I bought I only paid $15 shipping (or something).
