RE: front sprocket removal
Not a reverse thread. Lefty loosey that bitch. You already tried rattle gunning it?
Put it in neutral, chuck a bit of wood between one of your rear wheel spokes to lock it against the swing arm ( you can mess shit up if you put to much force through the gearbox) and get yourself a big fuck off breaker bar, or a long bit of pipe to put over the handle of your wrench. |

RE: front sprocket removal
Probably locktite on it, you'll need to apply some heat to it to break the seal.

RE: front sprocket removal
make sure you use a 6 sided socket if the thread is rounding off. should be able to get a cheap set from supercheap...
also, short sharp pushes/pulls work better. a very very long breaker bar also helps... ![]() http://www.mootavic.olilolo.com |

RE: front sprocket removal
ok, blow torch? is it safe to do? will it damage any oil seals or anything?
im using a 14mm socket that isnt a 6 sider but it feels a bit loose, do you know if its definitely a metric bolt? cheers |

RE: front sprocket removal
I wouldn't go a blow torch that close to fuel lines etc etc. I'd heat up the actually nut with a jet lighter. Definitely use the tightest fitting socket you can. Also lol Moot you know as well as anyone that cheap sockets are a shitty fit.

RE: front sprocket removal
its pretty simple.
Support rear of bike loosen axle nut. Wind chain adjusters (2 of) in so that you have max slack in chain. Lift chain off sprocket. Unbolt rear calliper ( wheel comes out without doing this but its a slut to get back in with the calliper attached.) Support wheel and knock axle out with mallet or hammer wrapped in rag. |

RE: front sprocket removal
a cheap 6 sider is better on a rounding nut than the best 12 sider...
got an impact driver? use that if you do... if not, buy one. cheaper than a good long breaker bar anyway... ![]() http://www.mootavic.olilolo.com |
