advice on exhaust please

Just received an aftermarket muffler for the nc23 but the diameter on the opening where it bolts on to the pipe is a good 8-9mm smaller than the original muffler. The three bolts seems to line up ok .
Is this alright to put on ?

is it restricting the air flow at all? if it isnt severly restricting the airflow, then id say it wont cause any serious damage if you do run it, but you may notice it running a little rough

do a 1/4 mile run with old pipe, then do it wi new

air pulse will bounce off restriction, or off an opening,
when the return pulse is favourable, bike is 'on the pipe' or for a 2 smoke, 'in the powerband'
when it's unfavourable, you get a flat spot,

it's v hard to sense small changes in power by riding, and some bikes, early V max, and early Vtec hondas, had a deliberate flat spot, so bike would seem more powerful when they went past it,
you won't damge engine with increased back pressure, it's restrictions at the beginning of the headers that will back heat up into the engine
