Yep, I know about the gaiters, but its more the angle of the forks.



Like in this photo, it appears the forks make the bike sit higher at the front, and all good cafe racers should be pretty much flat all the way through. So in other words, the forks should be shorter. I don't actually mind the dodgy photoshop look overall though

mmm, you want honda dream 50 style! the coolest mini cafe racer ever. screaming little 50cc engine, weigh's nothing and look so cool. I very nearly bought one for my GF (ok really for me!) but being 6ft and fairly large I get the feeling I'd look a bit like donkey kong in mario kart. still want one though. even just to blast around every now and then and keep in the living room the rest of the time.

just push the forks up higher in the tripples... will reduce the rake angle and lower the front ride height making it look flatter. also i think your tires are making it look too chunky too

also I wouldn't have the seat that low.

might want to put some adjustable rear sets on it too

deus in sydney had one for sale a while back. fk I had to try so hard not to buy it., same colours as above, silver with black frame from memory and looked so super hot. apparently they go pretty hard too for a 50cc. 6sp box helps no doubt.

On the strength of your Thread I decided to join here! We are probably at about the same stage of build with our respective KV's out of place I know in a CBR forum but they seem a tolerant lot. Keep posting your progress.

OK well I've had a little bit of time to twirl some spanners and I've come to the conclusion that I'll give the cafe racer idea a bit of a miss at the moment, simply as I have too many parts which might just go to waste. Anyway, the idea was to replace the clutch in the yellow bike, but that turned out to be a bit of a drama, thanks to one inaccessible bolt holding the whole thing together.

Given I would have to take the engine out of the yellow bike to get to said bolt, I thought I'd turn my attention to the older acquisition, the orange bike and completely strip it back to the frame and then do a transplant, bit by bit.

So while I was pulling the yellow one apart to get to the clutch (which ultimately failed) I took some pics.

I eventually got the engine out, which was good, I just didnt take a photo yet. Also, is there a way to remove the fork clamps? I can't seem to see any more bolts holding it on. Do I need a special tool?

The forks on both bikes have their own problems




I think I might have found a practically new set in the US for $25 plus shipping.

Yep you're on the weed fancy having that many projects going at once The engines come out of these things easy as you'd probably know... I am looking at putting a Lifan 140 cc motor into mine, new they are not too much money and switching the electrics to 12v seems easy it gives a lot more options on mods etc..but that's a ways off for mine.

^ Thats actually a great idea. I think I'll do that for the yellow bike once it's all been donated to the orange
