Kawasaki KV100 Resto
Here is the newest addition to the motely crew under the house. It is a 1975/76 Kawasaki KV100.

I have two of these, and parts of one more coming. The idea is to take 2.5 bikes and turn one into a resto and the other into a cafe racer.

This one cost me $150 and will be the candidate for the resto.

There isnt much of a clutch in this one, but it does run. I had to put some new fuel and oil in, and change the sparkplug and the cap as the previous one was in really poor shape.

I have new clutch plates coming from BK Performance, and some springs from the US. Parts for these bikes are really cheap and seem to be easily accessible as they are also pretty popular in Thailand (though the parts from Thailand are always a bit crappy). There is also a dude in New Zealand (Plenter) that sells all OEM stuff for Kawasakis.

Anyway, pics.

This is the exhaust. A bit of dirt, no?

Hektik flames...

and lightning bolts on the tank!

So yep, it runs, but it won't go into gear and the clutch doesnt seem to do anything. The bloke I bought it off said the clutch slips, so I guess we wait for the clutch kit and springs to arrive.

If it wasn't raining I'd go and hit it with a bit of degreaser and take the dirt off with the Karcher lol

Yeah I think it will be a lot of work, but at least the parts are cheap and don't cost an arm and a leg. Its all just a bit of fun anyway Smile

It's like doing a resto on a postie, but at the end of the project you have an actual bike LOL

Who cares if it's alot of work I like it. Wish I could do a yamaha or Honda one of these I love little old cafe racers. It's partly because they are so small and stupid it makes them cool.

RE: Kawasaki KV100 Resto
i didnt say alot of work was a bad thing.

I'd be tempted to find trick shocks and breaks and low angle clip ons.

^ That is exactly what I was going for. I didnt know about the shocks at the front though - like what would be suitable or where I could source them.

well, if you cant find anything suitable or what you are after is too expensive, bead blasting, sanding it smooth and replating everything is an option. Plating isn't very expensive either.
