RE: VIN Plate and Powdercoating
you're all the confirmation i need stud! will drill out the rivets and put the plates in my safe spot so no chance of misplacing them. can you just use a normal hand riveter when you go to put the plates back on or do you have to use a pneumatic rivet gun or something?

RE: VIN Plate and Powdercoating
We just taped it up on the VTR frame when it was sandblasted. It was fine

RE: VIN Plate and Powdercoating
taping up is the safest way. no problem can arise then.
if you remove it you're open to a few different fkups, like losing the plate, damaging when drilling (seen people lose control of the drill and scratch a nice path across it), damage when riveting (less likely but can happen), or just not done with proper rivets and then it becomes obvious. nothing worse than having to get a vehichle identity check and having them think you've swapped the VIN from somewhere. so just be aware if you remove it be bloody careful when drilling out the rivets, be bloody careful where you store it and be bloody careful how you re-fit it. technically tampering with the VIN is illegal so just be careful. again, the safest option is just tape it up... |
