Project RVF400 - Codename: Soichiro
Ok so this will be the thread for my new RVF build. Bought the parts that Berky was selling and decided to have a go. Someone had to do it right?

Pretty much everything is there bar the front end goodies so will be sourcing some parts from the bike's motherland.

I've decided that I'll make it a road bike but I'm not going to dress her up in OEM gear. I have mocked up the design on the comp but can't show you peeps as it would ruin the surprise.

It won't be as comprehensive a build as Lane's but it should be interesting Big Grin

Spent the last few days sanding the frame and swing arm back to get rid of some of the imperfections, degreased and prepared for sandblasting. No pics as yet but they'll be coming in along the way. That's it for now.

Pics or it didn't happen! Big Grin

I think I'm going to man up and get an RVF myself as an upgrade, don't necessarily need a 600 to be satisfied. I've always wanted an RVF and couldn't get one in the US, now I can finally get one here in AUS.

Do it. Love the V4 sound, and they certainly aren't slow. You can easily pull over 200km/h and out accelerate almost any car on the road, and they stick like shit to a blanket in corners even with average tyres. If you end up getting one, be sure to post pictures, I love some RVF porn.

So that's where you got all the parts from Ron! Haha. I wanted to buy that stuff and do a project but don't have the time, space or money for it. Sounds like it's going to be sweet. You going to pull the engine apart and rebuild it? Post lots of pictures! I love rebuild threads, especially RVF ones.

Haha...yeh thought it would only be fair to distribute the un-needed parts to the masses. Yup I'll pull the engine apart and see what's what but I've got a mod I wanna tinker with in the cylinder heads....

Shhhhh Big Grin

ok so the build is going a little slower than I would have hoped...just finding the time is a bit of a bitch

anyway. received the frame and swingarm back from the powdercoater and reassembled the rear hub and carrier. also pressed in the new tapered upper and lower head races.

decided to leave the VIN plates on and the powdercoater managed to get some paint on it! lucky for me (and them) it came off relatively easy

what you guys think of the blue frame? i'm 50/50 atm...we'll see if my vision comes off (sorry I know its a little hard to see against the blue tarp - poor form by me)

NIOCE!

Looks like they did quite a nice job on the frame.

I actually quite like the blue frame. Big Grin

Really interested to see where this goes!

I love these interesting build projects! Make sure you take PLENTY of photos to show the bike at every single stop of this project, I don't want to miss a thing!
