Fucking mental. Goes to show how much pressure is on the riders, that they would choose to lose a finger rather than miss races and potentially lose their ride. Honestly I think it's ridiculous.

that finger is not important, for millions of dollars, I would also off the bugger worked with heaps of blokes missing fingers, does not make them any worse at their job or prevent them from doing anything. not sure they would be good contenders for a touch typing secretary though

worth it, cut off your finger at work and compensation payout is only 20k - so he probably got that + more + another good pay packet. I would still do it.
