RE: * Updated 1 Feb* Daytona 675 vs Ducati 848
Shlzz - if I was going to dedicate the bike to just a track bike then I would do the upgrades or just look for a crashed 675r.
For the street and the occasional trackday, the bike is a cracker and I'm not a racer therfore don't really need top of the line specs on the bike. FYI, I'm nearly 6ft but I think it's my body positioning and long legs that make me look like a spider. Dealgood - I have wanted a 675 for a long time and seem to buy nearly every other engine type but a triple. After I had an extensive ride on my mates 675, I was pretty much sold and speaking to you really helped also. Re; the suspension - nearly everyone I speak to has an opinion on how to set it up. Setting rider sag etc is easy but when it comes to dialling in rebound, compression, dampening etc, this is where an expert in this field is required. After the Ohlins guy played around with my setup, I could go harder into corners, turn better and accelerate harder out of turns. The overall feeling of the bike changed quite dramatically and it maked me think how much of a difference putting in a softer spring and setting up the suspension on the Duc would have made. Oh well, guess when I decide to get a twin again i'll set it up proper. Are they thinking of making a Daytona 1050? If they could drop a 1050cc block in a chassis and change the geometry so it tipped in and was nimble in a similar fashion to the 675 I would be very impressed. Obviously, missing the extra cyclinder, it could have the potential with other weight savings to be a light little fucker although the power delivery would be quite a thrill to experience and I think it would be far more manageable and friendly than some current litre bikes. d p.s. nice shot of you cranked over

on my zx6r it only really gets unbearable hot under the nads when the bikes near 108 degrees and in stop start traffic.. not sure if its the same with the daytona, but ive only had 3 times in 30000kms where the exhaust heat as been enough of an issue for me to pull over for 5 mins..

I haven't found it uncomfortable at all as of yet and I have been riding in some damn hot weather. Any undertail exhaust will disperse heat onto either your ass or you inner thighs. d Bike whore photos...... http://www.flickr.com/photos/58775161@N07/?saved=1 |

The 675 can get hot-ish in bad traffic on a hot day...but that goes for many bikes.
I find the Daytona 675 similar to the 954 Blade that I had previously. Under seat hasn't been a problem yet. The worst for heat was the VTR100 SP1. Cooked the inside of your thighs. |

Thank fuck the streetfighter doesn't have undertail exhausts. Most bikes are hot enough without that shit. They sure look horn though.
'tik. If a scientist created another universe from nothing, explained it and showed everyone how to do it, religious people would still thank god. |

Hmmm, the Daytona curse hit me yesterday...........................R/R shat itself. Thank fuck I had a spare one in my man cave (that's a garage to all you perverted fucks).
New battery also and after testing the stator all is good but I will still buy a backup one just in case. d Bike whore photos...... http://www.flickr.com/photos/58775161@N07/?saved=1 |

Huh! Fucking British electrics.
I think I had told you that I had my stator replaced under warranty......two or three months after the warranty expired. Good that you were prepared. You didn't replace it with the same reg rec I hope. |
