The reg/recs aren't in the best place... they get heat from the engine. A lot of people had problems with them early on, prior to them having a heat sheild. I replaced mine before it went, with a FH008 reg. Way better model.

You didn't replace it with the same reg rec I hope.

Nearly everyone I know has had either the R/R or stator go so that's why I bought a spare R/R, which is the MOSFET one. More heavy duty and after I tested everything was showing a very healthy figure on my meter.

Yes, the R/R is in a retarded place and a fucker to get to also.
I have put it back in the same spot for the interim and will move it in the very near future to a more breezy location on the bike.

See I like the look of the Triumph Explorer that's coming out but it has more electronics than a jaycar store, so I wonder how it will go reliability wise considering it's an adventure tourer? (on the topic of trumpy electrics that is)
