RE: Weird electrical problem with car - gurus needed.
Circuit diagram is here:
http://www.fordlaser.com/dload.php?actio...ile_id=100 The problem is intermittent (noticed it twice, third time was overnight and killed the battery) Wayne so I'm happy to just replace the relay. I was eliminating the relays I found just by unplugging them and then switching the headlights on and off, but none of them were doing anything. I've found the indicator relay and looked for others in that area (there was another right next to it) but nada. I've posted a thread up on fordlaser.com asking for the relay location, no help yet. I'll get a quote from a workshop for the replacement and if it's unreasonable (or they won't just tell me where it is ) I might have to take you up on your offer Wayne, I've gotten to the point where I want to torch the car out of frustration ![]() Justin.

RE: Weird electrical problem with car - gurus needed.
Does the car have an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser kit? a lot of alarms will hardwire into the headlights/hazard circuits and feed it direct power (and remember your alarm system gets constant power from the battery because it needs to work when switched ignition is off). If so it could be the alarm fucking up and powering the headlights on... just a possibility.
Wait it's a 95 laser... it doesn't have an alarm does it. You can actually unlock those cars with a butter knife (don't ask me how I know this). |

RE: Weird electrical problem with car - gurus needed.
It does have an immobiliser/alarm, but the alarm doesn't seem to have anything "active" in relation to the headlights/hazards so I haven't really gone down that route. I've (the wife really) been using the car with the headlight fuse pulled since the issue started and haven't had another chance to look for the relay since the first couple of hunts, but it's not where it's supposed to be (a guy sent me the page from the workshop manual) so it might have been moved during the alarm install....
Food for thought, cheers. I'll get a chance this week some time to continue the search.... Justin.
