The guy from the shops just said use the breaker and then use 2 pliers to install the master clip?

Can that be done or just buy the riveter because its easier and will be using it in the future...

You can snap a link on with good pliers or vice grips but if you're going to ride bikes all your life then what's $70 at the end of the day?
