Air Conditioning!

Air Conditioning!
The time has come, I can finally afford air conditioning.

Any installers?

Open to suggestions but I was thinking just the top floor (bottom floor is usually a good 5 degrees cooler) ducted, a vent in each of the 2 bedrooms and one or two in the main living / kitchen area.

Ideally I'd like to be able to just put it on in one room because I'm often the only one home.

Interested in getting a quote if anyone's keen.

RE: Air Conditioning!
we just got hours done, got 3 wall unit things, one in the master bedroom one in the kitchen/living room and one in my room.

bedroom ones were about $1k i think and the bigger one in the living room was $1500

amazing how well they work

RE: Air Conditioning!
I will have to agree, think we have 1.7KW Panasonic wall units at our place, one for downstairs and one in all 3 bedrooms upstairs.

I dont think ducted is the way to go in my opinion, im pretty sure its more costly and is only good if you can segment each area..

You'll be surprised how good a wall unit inverter is. You can usually get free quotes done and it will give you an idea of a price.

RE: Air Conditioning!
problem we had was finding somewhere to put a wall unit, ducted was way to expensive, we have those roof high windows in most of our rooms so it made it tricky getting the wall units but we managed to squeeze them in eventually, was a god send last week when we had all those 40+ days!

the one i have in my room is only about a meter long, maybe not even that and it cools my room and down the hallway to my brothers if i leave the door open, not sure what KW it is tho but its far less intrusive then i thought it would be

RE: Air Conditioning!
With electricity prices going spastic, have you considered evaporative cooling?

RE: Air Conditioning!
evaporative isnt good if it gets humid where you are, refrigerated is much better for humidity

RE: Air Conditioning!
yea, evap is good here for instance, we only get a handfull of humid days a year, and otherwise it works great! when its humid though, an athsmatic wheasing on you would probably be better...

RE: Air Conditioning!
I know Melbourne weather is slightly different to Sydney weather, but I've lived in 2 places with evap and could count on one hand the number of days where it wasn't able to cool the place as well as I would have liked. With it costing a fraction of what aircon does to run, I reckon it's a fair tradeoff.
