Apparently in QLD you're not allowed to ride your clutch? Newspaper

My q-ride instructor kinda encouraged slipping the clutch as much as you needed to for some of the manuevers. He never said we couldn't use it on the fig 8, but that doesn't mean it's frowned upon by qld transport.

But riding on a vtr250, putting it in 2nd gear and idling it through the figure 8 was the perfect speed for the test. Didn't have to touch the brakes or throttle

I like to ride on the road with my friend who has a full licence and I find it a good way to learn and get experience without paying tonnes of $$$

Pronto, I noticed you live on the GC also... Did you goto AMA or toprider?? Which is the better provider?

Neither, I went through team moto yamaha in springwood. They are a bit more expensive than the other schools, but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Here is a link to their website: http://www.teammoto.com.au/motorcycle_riding_school.php

John was an awesome instructor. But I guess this recommendation is useless as I cannot compare it to other schools. If I didn't like the course, I would have said so. Tongue

ACT was piss easy, 4 hrs riding in a big circle practising counter steering and gears, then 1 hr listing to a guy talk about road positioning and here have a bike license.

I was told to get off the clutch during my figure 8, I told him it was necessary cos the bike was a lumpy dog (gt650 hysuck) and it was shaky as fuck. he gave me leniency for it, was fine. If i just idled, it would surge back and forth like a bull ride (I demonstrated).

Never been on a worse bike than that in my life... it was also brand new.. don't recommend them.

So in a matter of a month, and 2 days of ridding a bike i was licenced to ride on my own on a LAM's bike.
LOL! Same here! Except I went for my L's on Wednesday, bought a bike on the Friday, practiced in a carpark opposite my work for a few days (the joys of no licenced riding friends, just dirt bikers Dodgy ) and booked my Q-ride with AMA for that Wednesday. Way too easy.

I went thru AMA, if you wanted a second opinion. Taught me a heap on the day and were patient with me, the cibby and its dislike of idling in a carpark for the majority of the day.
(Battery went flat and just conked out. Had to be push started every time I turned it off after thatBlush)
