I need your infra-red laser thermometer. Actually, there's a chance I've got a thermometer in my medicine cabinet. Hmm...

Adds a bit of thickness to the grips but it feels fine. The material might feel weird if you were riding with bare hands but I wouldn't do that so I can't see it being a problem. Feels like it's not in any danger of slipping so that's good.

Just cable tied the wire to the frame. It's a bit ugly at the moment so maybe I'll go back later and see if I can make it less visible. You can see flecks of snow on my bike here too.

The switch didn't exactly fit on fantastically so the cable ties around it are a bit ugly but they're very secure. Also, I have two watches; I'm awesome.

Cables are still a bit messy but that's the basic setup. I've only ridden around down with them so far and you can feel them warm up but I haven't ridden for long enough to know how hot they get. I'll probably ride to the city tomorrow though, so long as it's not too snowy, so I'll find out how it holds up over a long journey.

Yeah, feels really solid. I've tried twisting it off and there is some give in the actual material itself but it doesn't slip on the handlebar itself.

RE: Heated grips- recommendations, anyone?
Well, I rode with them in the cold so here are my thoughts on the wrap-around heated grips.
I wouldn't say that they were fantastic because my index finger and thumb still got cold, maybe just because of the position. I am satisfied with them though because they were just cold enough to be uncomfortable, rather than painful. Previously, when I rode at night, I was pulling over every 30 minutes to warm my hands up on the exhaust pipe because my hands hurt too much.
The fingertips were the real problem and they felt fine so I'd have to write that down as a success. Overall, I'd say they solved my problem and I don't think I'll need to do anything else about cold hands while I'm here. I don't have any other heated grips to compare them too but compared to not having anything there, it's awesome.

you can get other types of heated grips like the ones on my GS, they are just a heating pad that goes underneath the grip.

and they can get hot
