Heated grips- recommendations, anyone?
I should have done this at the start of winter (Japanese mountain town gets really cold; sometimes I can't ride in the mornings due to icy roads) so it might not be worth it now but my fingertips get really cold on any lengthy ride, even through multiple gloves.
I basically want to get some heated grips that I can have shipped to my house here in Japan and to pay as little as I can get away with. I had a look for heated gloves but they seemed to be much more expensive than grips. I measured the length of the grips on the bike at the moment (VTR250) and got 12cm, so I think I want something this size. Is there any way I can keep my fingertips toasty warm and come out spending less than $100? |

Try these. I bought em at the full price of 35 pound sterling, but at this price you cant go wrong.

depending on how often you ride you can get heated sticker things from snowsport shops that you just stick on your palm
not worth it if you ride alot in the cold weather because you would have to buy a lot and it would get expensive but if u dont go out to much then they would be good iv been trying to find them online but cant locate them at the moment |

Shit thats a pity, cos theyre pretty good (theyre basically oxford ones rebranded). But like i said, even at the full price theyre good value. I have them fitted to my girlfriends bike and they work grand |

RE: Heated grips- recommendations, anyone?
I had a look at heated gloves and they were more expensive than heated grips. I tried putting the heated sticky things (the ones you use for shoes) in my gloves and they were fine for my palms but didn't keep my fingertips warm.
I just ended up getting some of these coverings from ebay. Reviews looked okay, they were relatively cheap and I can remove them easily when I come back to Australia. Guess I'll let you know when they arrive if they're any good. |

RE: Heated grips- recommendations, anyone?
Oxford grips showed up last night and I installed them today. Just from playing with them, they were really easy to install and feel fine to hang onto. I was worried that they might be the wrong size or make the grips too thick but it doesn't seem to be a problem.
I haven't been on a long ride with them yet but I had them on for a few minutes and they started getting warm almost straight away. I'll probably ride into the city on the weekend (90 minute ride) so that'll be the ultimate test. I'll put up some pics tomorrow anyway, in case anyone's thinking of getting anything similar. |
