Change my air filter?
Was doing some work on the carbs the other day and noticed my air filter was pretty dirty, probably hasn't been changed in about 10 years. The bike runs fine though, was just wondering what the advantage of forking out $60+ on a new air filter is.

All the work you do tuning carbs will not be wasted?

RE: Change my air filter?
Depends how dirty dirty is. Obviously a dirty filter will flow less air.

RE: Change my air filter?
I would love to know what the average age of most CBR's airfilter is.

Most hardly get changed due to hondas pricing.

RE: Change my air filter?
when they're visibly dirty, from dust not oil, oil is big stain, but it's dust that blocks the pores across the whole filter,

then that causes more intake vacuum, sucks up more fuel, makes bike run rich, fouling plugs, and increasing bore wear,

or you could tune the bike to run wi a rooted filter...

RE: Change my air filter?
I would change it. Combustion does require air after all.

Depends on how dirty it is I suppose.

What is the recommended interval to change the air filter anyway?

RE: Change my air filter?
you have to consider how dusty your riding is, it's dust not kms, if your pasttime is tailgating on country dirt roads, then every week is good
