Check the connections behind the ignition barrel and check all of the main earths for the loom. You'll need to download the manual. A copy can be found on here.

RE: New to the forum...
Thanks jlyall and rubenastley.

My Reg/Rec came today and I put that in. I put x2 1.5mm washers behind the device and thread the screw through them to keep it 3mm off the bike to allow air flow through and stop it heat easily being transfered into it in a hope it will prolong the devices life. I'll keep everyone updated.

2fiddy,

RE: New to the forum...
Thanks Pronto, very helpful. I better go down there and remove that space between the frame and the rec/reg! Good pickup mate.

RE: New to the forum...
Hey so bikes been running fine since I replaced the rec/reg but heres a new problem.

Sunday, bike started strait away, no hassle. Very quick as I pushed the starter...
Monday, no choke, but a few kicks and it turned over...
Tuesday, needed the choke to start her up...
Wednesday, same thing
Thursday, Wouldn't start, had to push start.
Friday, wouldn't push start or anything. Sits there cranking but wont turn over...
Tried jumping, didnt work. Tried charging batter because it was starting to go flat with all the failed starts... Still nothing

Hasn't turned over since... Any idea? Got fuel, tap is on, pump works, batter charged, starter motor is cranking but no firing in the cyclindars... I was thinking plugs, but all of them at once? I just don't know hey, any help would be appreciated

RE: New to the forum...
Did you change the battery as well as the reg/rec?
Coz if you didn't it could just be a dead battery, charging it only helps so much
If you did, then either the battery isn't getting charged or your not riding it for long enough to charge it up

As for not starting anymore, the plugs could be fouled, have you visually checked for spark?
Also when you say "got fuel" do you mean in the tank or you've already checked that fuel is coming out the pump?

RE: New to the forum...
Hey so big developements today. A mates brother came around and shed some light on things and did his thing for an hour and we've made a few discoveries.

We checked the plugs as suggested and they are nearly new, maybe werent seated tight enough because the ring wasn't pressed flat but they are all good and not fouled. I cleaned and sanded them up anyway.

We then checked the compression from each cylindar by placing my hand over the hole where the plug sits and tried cranking it. One of my cylindars had little to no compression so we removed the rocket cover and with feeler guages checked each valve clearance.

Attached are my finding.

I am not the best mechanic but was wondering what people thought about adjusting these myself, has anyone done it without to much trouble? I looked on the forum but I'm really bad at computers and the seach kept saying "no results" even when I typed the letter "cbr" so I know it must not of been working properly. I don't know anything about shim's or the method but the manual makes it look pretty easy. The bloke who looked at it with me said I should take it in to the shop and hope that the piston hasnt struck the valve but I do not believe it has...

Any thoughts or best wishes welcomed at this stage Smile
Never mind, I've been a jube
