Lightbulb How to make plastics look like new?

As the title says I am wondering how I can go about getting the plastic pieces on my bike looking new again.

I am talking about the air ducts, chain guard and the bottom of the tail assembly
At the moment they look really dull and more a pale white than black.

Any suggestions will be much appriciated

    Thanks

Armour All products do the job but they leave everything looking too glossy and artificial

Its expensive but I prefer replacing the parts

clean the part, then spray with gloss black aerosol.. give it a few coats. Will look all shiny and perfect for anyone further than 50cm away.

I'm affraid armorall would not work if your fairing has a clear applied to it. If the paint is sun burnt, there is nothing you can do to make it look better, except spraying it. Armorall or Polyglase do a wonderful job on air ducts, chain guards or any bare black plastic. As K916 said, it will make the plastic glossy, but it is temporary anyway.

Yes my previous post doesn't apply to fairings at all. just general parts like exhausts, frame etc.

    Yes. I have your answer.

If what you want to do is rejuvenate black plastics that are starting to perish and turn a kind of crystalised grey, then you need this stuff.

I got talked into buying some by a chick at Supercheap Auto and she wasn't even hot. It's not cheap (about $13 or $18 a bottle and you need to use it liberally) but it works miracles. It hasn't worked for absolutley everything but I've only had one part that didn't return shit hot results (it was still a big improvement though). It will especially transform your switchgear and make it look a decade younger. Give it a bash.

    For example:

a trick i used to use on old trailbike plastics, which are very hard to polish and impossible to paint, is to hit it with a heatgun, the small scratches just fade away and it gets a great colour back to it, then i would just polish it with wd40
